Choose a wedding band

Practical guidance for choosing, wearing and keeping jewelry.

Find your ring size with confidence.

A jeweler’s ring sizer is the most reliable starting point, especially for an expensive, wide or non-resizable ring. Measure the intended finger at normal room temperature; fingers can change size during the day. Check that the ring can pass comfortably over the knuckle without feeling loose at the base.

  • Use a ring that fits the same finger. Measure its internal diameter across the center, excluding the metal; compare with the size chart for the product you are buying.
  • If using a strip of paper as a first estimate, mark the overlap without stretching or tightening it. Measure the marked length in millimeters. Repeat at different times and do not treat a single paper measurement as a guaranteed fit.
  • A wider band often feels tighter than a narrow band of the same size. Ask about the fit of the specific design and whether resizing is possible before ordering.
  • Sizing systems differ between regions. Confirm the system used by the product; do not transfer a number from a different country without conversion.

This table is a reference for an initial estimate. Manufacturing tolerances, band width and comfort-fit profiles vary. The product-specific size chart and a professional fitting take priority.

Look beyond a close-up photograph.

  • Try different widths and profiles if possible; a wider band changes how a size feels.
  • Consider whether a raised setting will catch on gloves or clothing and whether the band sits comfortably beside another ring.
  • Ask which material, finishing and stone-setting choices can be resized or repaired.
  • Plan the timeline for fitting, engraving and delivery before setting a date.
